Fleur De Vie (Flower of Life) rolled out the red carpet at their annual fund-raiser in New York City with “La Palette Saisonniere Du Chef” (A Chef’s Seasonal Palette) at the French Institute. The soire’ was hosted by a dapper Vladimir Duthiers, CBS News Correspondent, who, not only glided through his duties with grace and poise, but shared fond memories of his upbringing as the son of Haitian immigrants of French descent, and the food that his mother cooked.

Fleur De Vie’s president, fashion designer Dayanne Danier presented special awards to two individuals who has been extremely supportive of the organization over the years. Hawtan Leathers, manufactures and distributors of leather, with a vast tannery in Haiti and Carel Pedre, popular Haitian Radio and Television personality, journalist and social media specialist, were the honorees at the event. They both were on hand to accept placques and graciously thanked Fleur De Vie for the honor, pledging more support in the future.

The special brunch was prepared by Chef Stephan Durand, an ambassadorof Haitian gastronomy who is highly acclaimed with several awards under his belt. A seven course menu was the piece de resistance of the afternoon.The delicious offering featured; Chicktaille Hering Sliders with Avocado puree; Paella Kreyol: Riz Djondjon (Black Rice) with Seafood; Boulette (Meatballs) with spicy creole sauce; Lalo (Spinach) with Beef and White Rice; Chicken with Cashews and Plantain au Gratin. The meal ended with the popular Haitian dessert, Pain Patate (Sweet Potato) Cheesecake.
The brunch was complimented by Toast Vodka and Dorpare Teas.
FLEUR DE VIE
Fleur De Vie is a non-profit organization, comprising of a team of professionals who in partnership with a network of like-minded individuals, businesses, organizations and communities are devoted to supporting the needs of not for profits through fundraising and campaign promotions. Education, health and environmental sustainability are the key focal points of Fleur De Vie, who organizes numerous trips to Haiti where they conduct a back to school program, a literacy program and teachers training.
