EXPERTISE

Seven brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the world of skincare. She was the Lead Advanced Educator at Atelier Aesthetique Institute for five years. Seven created, taught and managed all of the post graduate curriculum including the first ever comprehensive Para-medical Aesthetics and International ITEC Certification. This skin care expert also holds a New York State Aesthetics and Teaching Licence/Beauty Specialist and Electric Facialist Diplomas from The International Theraputic Examination Council of London, which allows her Licencesure in 38 countries worldwide. In addition, Seven served as Skin Care Consultant for make-up master, Sam Fine’s Beauty Tour, sponsored by Sephora and Aesthetician for the Oil of Olay Regenerist Team. Here’s what Seven told our own Fashion/Beauty guru Walter Greene on various subjects:

THE NAME SEVEN AND HER ROOTS

“It’s a blessing…my parents are form Panama. My Dad had a chance to play baseball or go into the military. He went into the military. I was raised as a  military brat; Air Force and I traveled a lot.”

CAREER PATH

“I probably hit the ‘reset’ button of my career several times. I started in the legal field. One of my friends was a massage therapist and I had an agency which sent out talent. So I said: `Why not send out massage therapists and skin care specialists?’ One of the things working in the legal field I learnt, was that I am a great detective. Analyzing skin is my strong point, so, I went to school. I had the opportunity to teach. I was a divorced mother raising four children, and discovered raising my kids was a teaching process, so I got my aesthetic licence and then the International licence. So I’ve been an educator. I went to school and I taught. I set up licence programs in the Philippines. One of my goals is to do the same in Latin American countries.”

BLACK SKIN
“Although we cater to all skin types, we specialize in Black skin. We are very conscious of how the Melanin in our skin react to the sun. It’s challenging. Now it’s not just hair removal or bumps on the back of the neck. People of color need to know the uniqueness of their skin, because we come in so many shades, there is no one size that fits all, definitely not. In treating Black skin, there are certain things we are more likely to experience, like keyloids…Also Black people do need sunscreen.”

CLIENT BASE

“My client base are 80% women and the age group range from 17-18 years old to 65 plus. Mothers bring their daughters and sons. Guys suffer worst with acne, their Mom’s bring them.”

BEAUTY REVELATIONS

“There are certain natural elements that I’ll like to infuse in my product line. When you see the people who work in snail farms, their hands are like butter, it’s because of the Helix of the snails. They can barely hold glass. In Africa, the bearings of the Baloab tree (the upside down tree) is revered. Another simple element is Watercrest; it’s the best antioxident for the body. We have to be aware of how the body accepts natural things.”

NEXT VENTURE

“The next venture in my journey is a product line that will consist of seven serums with seven ingredients, from the seven continents that is indigenous with the cultures of these regions. They will be incorporated into the four skin types that exist. It’s like apples and oranges. I am also creating a franchise, I’m trying to create a New York City Mc Donalds playbook.”
